The NUS Pro Bono Group is a student-run organization dedicated to the promotion of pro bono among law students in the Faculty of Law, NUS. We strongly believe that volunteer legal service brings benefits to both the community and the volunteer, and we seek to spread this message to our peers by informing them about the pro bono movement in Singapore and to involve them in pro bono service. We also hope that by encouraging law students to participate in pro bono activities during their time in law school, more law students will be inspired to contribute their valuable legal skills to the Singaporean community at large even when they enter the profession.
Under the guidance of our Faculty Advisor A/P Helena Whalen-Bridge, the NUS Pro Bono Group has grown in strength, from about 50 students in 2007/2008, to over 220 students participating in our activities today (AY2013/14). The NUS Pro Bono Group has also been featured in the Straits Times, the Today newspaper, Lian He Zao Bao and even on Channel News Asia.
